We wouldn’t be able to do what we do, achieve what we are and be who we are without our incredible volunteers. Meet some of the friendly faces who support our charitable efforts on this page…

‘The people are what makes volunteering enjoyable at Markshall. It is fun working with other volunteers and the Arboretum Team – there’s great banter! I feel really appreciated by the staff at Markshall and it is great to see the seasonal changes throughout the year.’
Richard : Visitor Welcome/ Admissions and Golf Buggy Driver/ Tour Guide, 8 years
‘I used to visit with my wife Mary and thought it must be great to be a part of it. Driving the buggy and being in Admissions is a wonderful way to meet different people with lots of different stories and backgrounds. To me volunteering is a two-way process. I am always thanked for what I do at Markshall but really I want to say thank you Markshall for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the fun. The staff make you feel as though you are part of a big family.’
Len : Arboretum Volunteer, 11 years
‘I was looking for something different to do from my career which was in engineering. I like volunteering at Markshall for the social aspect. I also enjoy working outside and gardening. I want to be volunteering for another 10 years!’

When you can’t find Matt volunteering in the Arboretum… he’s probably disguised as our Easter Bunny! (Sorry Matt!)
